A Victorian Copper Splash Lid, c.1900
£59.95
An authentic late Victorian to Edwardian hand-crafted copper splash lid, dating from around 1890–1915. Traditionally used in professional and domestic kitchens to reduce fat splatter while frying, this piece is hand-raised from heavy-gauge copper and fitted with a wrought iron handle secured by hand-peened copper rivets. The underside is stamped G • G, most likely a maker's, retailer's or owner's mark. A handsome and practical example of antique kitchenware, it also makes an attractive decorative piece for a country kitchen or copperware collection.

Condition
Very good antique condition, with age-related wear consistent with over a century of use. The wrought iron handle is sound and securely fixed with its original copper rivets. The G • G stamp remains clearly visible.
Please study the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
Use
Originally designed as a splash or splatter lid for use over frying pans and sauté pans, this piece is equally well suited today as decorative antique kitchenware. It displays beautifully on a wall or pot rack and would make an excellent addition to a collection of antique copper or period kitchenalia.
This style of description is attractive to collectors because it accurately describes the piece without making claims about the G • G mark that cannot be verified.

As vintage-style decorative objects, these pieces are final sale and non-returnable.
